SUUROWO O MARKETINGU PODCAST

Marketing under control: inspiration from Alex Ignac

#17Adrianna WardzałaGuest: Alex Ignac
INTRODUCTION

What for some is a pleasant adrenaline rush, for others can be a silent thief of energy: a constant race against time, e-mails with exclamation marks in the subject line, the expectation that a "brilliant idea" will happen with one click. A calendar with no free slots left, where every minute has an owner.

In the latest episode of SUURowo o marketingu, we talk to Alex Ignac, a specialist in mental resilience and creativity, to defuse this everyday chaos. We talk about how to protect not only your peace of mind, but also the quality of your work, when the world expects you to be a sprinter and a marathon runner at the same time.

Creativity needs space

"Creativity on demand" is an oxymoron, Alex stresses. Without a sense of safety, calm and mental distance, our brain switches to fight-or-flight mode instead of connecting the dots and coming up with innovative solutions. According to research, rest, good nutrition, hydration and sleep are the best way to get those "aha" moments.

02

A lion versus an e-mail: how to rationalise stress

Marketers often react to an e-mail titled "Urgent!" as if they were about to face a predator on the savannah. Alex suggests some simple questions: Is this really a threat? Does my life depend on it? Is this leading me to a result or to a heart attack?

Agreeing on shared definitions of priorities within the team, and tools to mark them (e.g. colours in Asana), can reduce false alarms.

03

Building authority in difficult conditions

Building authority in difficult conditions starts with… specifics. Recalling her experience of working at a university, Alex shows that the best shield against a lack of respect is solid preparation: a clear goal, an agenda and precise expectations of meeting participants. The same principle works in business, where marketing and sales often keep their distance from each other. Instead of waiting for "trenches" and silos to appear, it's worth betting on regular, honest communication between leaders. Then meetings stop being a battlefield and become a place where collaboration is born.

04

AI: enemy or support?

Alex warns against uncritical use of AI tools, including ChatGPT, in everyday internal communication. Although AI can streamline writing, organise your thoughts and suggest apt wording, its suggestions always need careful checking. An imprecise sentence, the wrong tone or a message sent at the wrong moment can cause unnecessary anxiety in the team, and in extreme cases even panic.

The biggest risk arises when AI works without awareness of the context, both organisational and emotional. A language model doesn't know what happened in the company the day before, what the mood in the team is or which topics are particularly sensitive. As a result, it can create a message that accidentally sounds like a crisis warning, or even a hint of conflict.

SUMMARY

3 key lessons from the episode

01Rest is not a luxury, but a condition for creativity: plan it just like your deadlines.
02Define priorities together with your team: "urgent" doesn't always mean the same thing to everyone.
03Separate yourself from the project: focus on what you can influence and don't waste energy on the rest.
